Mohs Surgery & Other Dermatology Services

At Anacortes Dermatology we provide a personalized experience to patients. Despite the fact many skin problems share similar features and symptoms, we provide each patient with a personalized plan for therapy. Below represents a small sample of our scope of practice at Anacortes Dermatology.

Mohs Micrographic Surgery

We perform Mohs micrographic surgery in our office. Mohs surgery has the highest cure rate for treating basal cell carcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas, and other skin cancer types. The procedure is performed in stages, including laboratory work while the patient waits. Sometimes removal of cancer and repair of the resultant defect, are performed on different days. For instance if the repair is conducted by another physician, or if 'retention' sutures are placed to help stretch the skin overnight, which can decrease the overall scar length. Improve Rosacea-Related Redness with IPL Therapy (Intense Pulsed Light) or KTP laser

Many patients suffer from excessive redness on the face and chest. Sometimes this can be caused by rosacea, other times sun exposure, and often both. Regardless of the cause, it can be cosmetically disturbing. Thankfully, IPL therapy can help decrease the appearance of this redness without extended downtime or discomfort. If you’d like more information about IPL therapy for redness or brown spots, or are interested in scheduling a consultation appointment, please contact us. Below are samples after a single treatment (industry standard is actually a series of 6 treatments)!

Chemical Peels

We offer medical-grade chemical peels to reduce sun damage and sun spots. These are amazingly effective, and return a youthfull look patients skin. Below are our average responses with chemical peels after a single treatment! These are our 'average' response to peels.

Vascular Laser (KTP laser)

We use a vascular laser to 'zap' and remove blood vessels on the face and small collections of blood called "cherry angiomas". Usually only one or two treatments are needed to resolve these lesions and improve sundamaged and rosacea skin.

Eliminate Unwanted Body Hair with Laser Hair Removal

It's a problem many of us deal with: unwanted and stubborn body hair. Usually our patients have tried it all. Waxing, shaving, and plucking, but the hair quickly grows back, necessitating dealing with it over and over again. If you’ve had enough keeping problem areas hair-free, you should consider laser hair removal. This treatment can provide patients with long-term or even permanent hair removal results through a simple series of treatment sessions.

Why Choose Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is a simple alternative to the time consuming daily routine of plucking, tweezing, shaving and waxing. This treatment is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures offered in the United States because of the convenience and long-lasting results.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

Laser energy passes through the uppermost layer of the skin and is absorbed by the pigment contained in the hair follicles. This heats the hair follicle, damaging it and rendering it unable to make hair in the future.

Because our hair follicles always cycle through growing and resting stages, every hair follicles in an area can not be destroyed during a single treatment, so patients need to undergo several session of treatments to get lasting results. The amount of treatments each patient must undergo varies.

What Areas of the Body can it be Used to Treat?

Laser hair removal can be used to target unwanted hair on nearly any area of the body. Some of the most popular treatment areas include the:, Toes, Legs, Chest, Arms, Abdomen, Upper Lip, Back, Bikini line, Navel area
